Multiplication of two binomials: Multiply each term of one binomial with each term of the other binomial and combine the like terms in the product.

(p+q)(p+2q)=p×p+p×2q+q×p+q×2q=p2+2pq+pq+2q2=p2+3pq+2q2

Therefore, simplified result is p2+3pq+2q2.
