The correct option is B $6 x + 9$
We know,
$(x + a) (x + b) = x^{2} + (a + b) x + a b$

$\Rightarrow (x + 2) (x + 4) = x^{2} + (2 + 4) x + (2) (4) = x^{2} + 6 x + 8$

We also know,
$(x + a) (x - a) = x^{2} - a^{2}$
$\Rightarrow (x + 1) (x - 1) = x^{2} - 1^{2} = x^{2} - 1$

$\Rightarrow (x + 2) (x + 4) - (x + 1) (x - 1)$
$= x^{2} + 6 x + 8 - (x^{2} - 1$ )
