C

If ozone hole appears in tropical and temperate regions, it could cause a series of health problems.

Ozone hole region in Antarctica is due to thinning of the stratospheric ozone layer. Ozone hole is caused by increasing concentrations of ozone-depleting chemicals in the stratosphere that come from spray cans, refrigerants, air-conditioners (modern technology). These long-lived chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs (chemical compounds with chlorine and/or fluorine attached to carbon) remain in the atmosphere for decades to over a century depending on the CFC. At the poles CFCs attach to ice particles. When the sun comes out again in the polar spring, the ice particles melt, releasing the ozone-depleting molecules. Once released, they break apart the molecular bonds in ozone. In the absence of ozone layer, there is a direct exposure to ultraviolet rays of the sun which can cause a variety of health-related issues such as cancer, mutations, etc.
