There are some important differences in human as compared to other mammals.
(i) The uterus in human is a single structure as compared to two in other mammals.
(ii) Only one egg is shed at ovulation so that only one embryo develops at a time, multiple births occur but rarely.
(iii) Developments period is quite long about 40 weeks.
(iv) There is no heat period.
