Question

[Sir, madam, this is a very silly question. Please don't be irritated]
Consider the protons of a metallic conductor as ants (for easy understanding) standing in a straight line without moving. The sea of electrons moving within the conductor are food grain pass from one to the one next. With this analogy can u describe what will be current, voltage, direct current, alternating current, electric potential, potential difference, resistence, resistivity.

Solution

Current is the flow of grains per second passing through an ants hand.voltage is the push given on the grain by each ant. Direct current is when the grains are travelling in one diection and alternating is when grains pass in one direction for some time and the opposite direction for the next period of time. Potential difference is the difference in pushing force given by ants at two points. You have to assume that the forace decreases from starting point to ending point. Voltage is same as electrical potential but in case of voltage it is said in relative terms. Resistance is the difficulty with which the ants transport grains. The difficulty decreases as there is more space and less length. Reistivity is property of a particular material. That is the irregularity of pipe in which ants are standing.
