1 rod is equivalent to 0.01

1 unit is equivalent to .001

In specimen 1, there is 1 rod(hundredth) and 3 units(thousandths).

This is equivalent to 0.013

Hence, size of specimen 1 = 0.013 mm

For the specimen 2, there are 16 units.

This is equivalent to 0.016

Hence, size of specimen 2 = 0.016 mm

Now, subtract the size of specimen 1 from the size of specimen 2

= 0.016-0.013

= 0.003

Hence, specimen 1 is 0.003 mm less than specimen 2.
