Small gaps are left in between rails when laying a railway track because tracks.

The rails of railway tracks are made up of steel. While laying the tracks, a small gap is left in between them because in summer, due to a considerable rise in temperature each rail tends to increase in length, which will lead to deforming of tracks, unless small gaps are left between them.
