Then the amount received by 2^nd son = 50% of x = $x \times \frac{50}{100} = \frac{x}{2}$
The amount received by eldest son = 50% of $\frac{x}{2} = \frac{x}{2} \times \frac{50}{100} = \frac{x}{4}$
Total money = 3500
$x + \frac{x}{2} + \frac{x}{4} = 3500 \frac{4 x + 2 x + x}{4} = 3500 \frac{7 x}{4} = 3500 x = 3500 \times \frac{4}{7} = Rs 2000 So, the amount received by eldest son = \frac{x}{4} = \frac{2000}{4} = Rs 500$
