Solution

Smoke

  • Smoke is produced when a substance burns or undergoes pyrolysis.
  • Smoke is a collection of airborne gases and particulates that are released, along with the amount of air that is mixed into the mass.
  • It is frequently a waste product of fires, such as those caused by stoves, candles, internal combustion engines, oil lamps, and fireplaces.
  • It can also be used for other purposes, such as fumigation, communication, military defensive, offensive capabilities, cooking, or smoking (tobacco, cannabis, etc.).

Aerosol

  • The term "aerosol" refers to a colloidal solution in which gas serves as the dispersion medium.
  • Both smoke and fog are aerosols because they are colloidal sols of solid carbon particles in the air and colloidal sols of moisture (water droplets) in the air, respectively.
