So, I am not expert in ISOMERISM but after listening to my tacher I have come to the point that. Suppose I have the compound
CH3 CH2 -O- CH2 CH3
then can I say that it is Metamer of following two compound:
CH3 -O- CH2 CH2 CH3 AND
CH3 CH2 CH2 -O- CH3
I asked this question to my friends when we came out of our chemistry class. Some of them said me that they will tell me after reading the book and some told me that It is a STUPID question.
I will read the book only after your answer beacause I want to know that what is level of my brain of asking questions without studying book.
Do really this question is STUPID or really I am intelligent boy?
Compounds having the same molecular formula but the different number of carbon atoms ( alkyl groups) on either side of the functional group ( i.e., -O-,-S-, -NH-, -C(=O)-) are called metamers and the phenomenon is called metamerism.
CH3 CH2 -O- CH2 CH3
yes, it is Metamer of following two compounds:
CH3 -O- CH2 CH2 CH3 AND
CH3 CH2 CH2 -O- CH3
in this NO. of carbon atom , H atom and Oxygen are equal , so it is matamers of second and third compound.
