Cartilage
Soft bony structures that are seen in the nose and the ear are called cartilages. Endoskeleton, exoskeleton, and remnants of exoskeleton are all made up of hard substances and are not flexible like the cartilage in the ear.
Scales of fish, hooves of animals are examples of remnants of the exoskeleton. An exoskeleton or external skeleton is on the outside of the body. Animals such as snails, crabs have external skeletons. An endoskeleton or internal skeleton is on the inside of the body. Animals such as fish, birds, and mammals have endoskeletons.
