Soft iron core is used in dc motor and ac generator. Explain ?

Soft iron core has low reluctance which means it allows magnetic lines through them easily. Due to high permeability it can strengthen the fields and increase the working of those machines. If hard magnetic material is used it will not llow magnetic lines through them easily so flux will face a resistance to flow which in turn will decrease the magnetic working of machines
