Part (i) The observations made in the following experiment:

When solid Calcium oxide(CaO) reacts with water, Calcium hydroxide(Ca(OH)2 is formed along with the evolution of heat.

(a) The temperature of the container start increasing and water starts converting into the gaseous phase.

(b) This is an example of an exothermic reaction because a large amount of heat evolved during the reaction.

Part (ii) Chemical formula of the compound formed

CaO(s)+H2O(aq)Ca(OH)2(s)+heat

Hence, the chemical formula of the product Calcium hydroxide is Ca(OH)2 which is also known as Slaked lime.
