From the given equation- $0.4 (3 x - 1) = 0.5 x + 1$
$\Rightarrow 0.4 (3 x - 1) = 0.5 + 1$ $
$\Rightarrow 1.2 x - 0.4 = 0.5 x + 1$
$\Rightarrow 1.2 x - 0.5 x = 1 + 0.4$
$\Rightarrow 0.7 x = 1.4$
$\Rightarrow x = 2$
