According to Quadratic Formula , for $a x^{2} + b x + c = 0$
$x = \frac{- b \pm \sqrt{b^{2} - 4 a c}}{2 a}$

Hence, $x = \frac{- - 1 \pm \sqrt{1^{2} - 4 \times 12 \times - 35}}{2 * 12} = \frac{1 \pm \sqrt{1681}}{24} = \frac{1 \pm 41}{24}$

So, $x = \frac{42}{24}, \frac{- 40}{24}$
