Step: Find the value of y
We have,

24 = y + 2y + 3 + 4y

Now, transposing 3 to LHS we get,

24 - 3 = y + 2y + 4y

⇒ 21 = 7y

⇒ 7y = 21

Now, transposing 7 to RHS we get,

y = $\frac{21}{7}$

⇒ y = 3

∴ The value of y = 3.
