$2 x - 3 = 9$

$\Rightarrow$ $2 x = 12$

$\Rightarrow$ $x = 6$

$x = 6$ $L H S$ $= 2 (6) - 3 = 9$

$L H S = R H S$

$∴ x = 6$ is root of the equation $2 x - 3 = 9$
