Step: Find the value of a

We have: $- 3 (a - 6) = 24$

After removing the brackets we get,

$- 3 a - 3 \times (- 6) = 24$

$- 3 a + 18 = 24$

Now, transposing 18 to RHS we get,

$\Rightarrow - 3 a = 24 - 18$

$\Rightarrow - 3 a = 6$

Now, transposing $- 3$ to RHS we get,

$\Rightarrow a = \frac{- 6}{3}$

$\Rightarrow a = - 2$

$∴ The value of a = - 2.$
