$3 x^{2} = 2 x + 8$

$3 x^{2} - 2 x - 8 = 0$

$x = \frac{- b \pm \sqrt{b^{2} - 4 a c}}{2 a}$

$= \frac{2 \pm \sqrt{(- 2)^{2} - 4 (3) (- 8)}}{2 (3)}$

$= \frac{2 \pm \sqrt{4 + 96}}{6}$

$x = 2, - \frac{4}{3}$
