Solve:
$a = b + 2$
$2 a - b = 7$
and hence find out $2 a + b$ .

$a = b + 2$ ---(1)
$2 a = b + 7$ ----(2)

(2) - (1) gives,

$2 a - a = b + 7 - b - 2$
$a = 5$

Substitute for $a$ in (1),
$5 = b + 2$
$b = 3$

To find $2 a + b$
$= 2 (5) + 3$
$= 13$
