Given, $(7 x - 1) - (x - \frac{1 - x}{2}) = 5 x + \frac{1}{2}$
Multiplying with 2 on both sides, we get
$2 (7 x - 1) - (2 x - (1 - x)) = 10 x + 1$
$\Rightarrow 14 x - 2 - 2 x + 1 - x = 10 x + 1$
$\Rightarrow 11 x - 1 = 10 x + 1$
Transpose $x$ terms on one side, we get
$11 x - 10 x = 1 + 1$
$\Rightarrow x = 2$
