Solve each of the following equations and check your answers:
2y-12=-13

2y 12 =-13
Adding 12to both sides, we get
⇒ 2y − 12+12=-13 + 12
⇒ 2y = -2 + 36
⇒ 2y = 16
Dividing both sides by 2, we get
2y2 = 16×2
⇒ y = 112
Verification:
Substituting y = 112 in LHS, we get
LHS = 2×112 - 12 = 16 - 12 =1-36=-26 =
-13, and RHS = -13
LHS = RHS
Hence, verified.
