Question

Solve each of the following equations and verify the answer in each case:
3(2 − 5x) − 2(1 − 6x) = 1

Open in App
Solution

3(2 − 5x) − 2(1 − 6x) = 1
or, 3 × 2 + 3 × (−5x) − 2 × 1 − 2 × (−6x) = 1 [On expanding the brackets]
or, 6 − 15x − 2 + 12x = 1
or, 4 - 3x = 1
or, 3 =3x
or, x = 1

Verification:
Substituting x = 1 in the L.H.S.:
3(2 - 5 × 1) - 2(1 - 6 × 1)3(2 - 5) - 2(1- 6)3(-3) -2(-5)-9 + 10 = 1 = R.H.S.
L.H.S. = R.H.S.
Hence, verified.
