$2 x + 3 = 5 x - 9$

Now by transposing $2 x$ to the R.H.S. and $- 9$ to the L.H.S we get,

$\Rightarrow 3 + 9 = 5 x + 2 x$

$\Rightarrow 12 = 3 x$

Now, by transposing $3$ to find the value of $x$ we get,

$\Rightarrow x = \frac{12}{3}$

$\Rightarrow x = 4$

$∴ x = 4$
