Solve for x and y:

$4 x + 6 y = 3 x y, 8 x + 9 y = 5 x y (x \neq 0, y \neq 0) .$

The given equations are

$4 x + 6 y = 3 x y$ ---- (A)

$8 x + 9 y = 5 x y (x \neq 0, y \neq 0)$ -----(B)

To eliminate coefficients of x from both (A) and (B)

Multiply equation (A) by 2

$2 x (4 x + 6 y = 3 x y)$

$\to 8 x + 12 y = 6 x y$ .............. (c)

Also $8 x + 9 y = 5 x y$ ..................(B)

(C) -(B) we have

$3 y = x y$

$\to 3 = x$

Putting the value of x in (B) which is

$8 x + 9 y = 5 x y$ we have

$24 + 9 y = 5 (3) y$

$24 = 15 y - 9 y$

$24 = 6 y$

$\to y = 4$

$\to x = 3$
