${(x - 5)}^{2} - {(x + 2)}^{2} = - 2$

$x^{2} + 25 - 10 x - x^{2} - 4 - 4 x = - 2$

$21 - 14 x = - 2$

$- 14 x = - 23$

$∴ x = \frac{23}{14}$
