Question

Solve pair of linear equation 5xy=5 and 3x2y=4 by graphical method. Also find cordintaes of point where these lines intersect y-axis.

Open in App
Solution

In order to represent the pair of linear equation graphically we need two points on the line representing each equation.
Prepare the proper table of at least 2 solutions for both the equations.
5xy=5
For x=0,
5(0)y=5
0y=5
y=5
So we get co-ordinates (0,5).
For y=0
5x0=5
5x=5
x=1
So we get co-ordinates (1,0).
x0 1
y 5 0
3x2y=4
For x=0
3(0)2y=4
2y=4
y=2
So we get co-ordinates (0,2).
For y=5
3x2(5)=4
3x10=4
3x=6
x=2
So we get co-ordinates (2,5)
x 0 2
y 2 5
The given pair of linear equations intersect each other at point D(2,5).
The coordinates of the points where the line intersect yaxis are A(0,5) and C(0,2).
