Solve the equation $\frac{x + 7}{3 x + 16} = \frac{4}{7}$

By cross multiplication , we get
$7 \times (x + 7) = 4 (3 x + 16)$
$7 x + 49 = 12 x + 64$
$7 x - 12 x = 64 - 49$
$- 5 x = 15$
$x = - 3$
