Question

Solve the equation xa+yb=2,axby=a2b2

Open in App
Solution

Consider the given equation.
axby=a2b2
Multiplying by a in both sides,
a2xyab=a3ab2 ......(1)

Since,
xa+yb=2
xb+ya=2ab
Multiplying by b in both sides,
xb2+yab=2ab2 ......(2)

On adding equation(1) and (2),
x(a2+b2)=a3+ab2
x(a2+b2)=a(a2+b2)
x=a

Substituting this value in equation (1),
a×a2yab=a3ab2
yab=ab2
y=b.

So, for given equation x=a,y=b.
