Solving the equation

A statement of equality which involves one or more variables is called an equation.

Given equation is 12x+7=11

RHS of the equation is 11 .In LHS, a whole number 7 is added to 12 of a number x.Thus we need to guess several values of x to find the values of LHS that becomes equal to RHS as shown in the table below.

xLHS=12x+7RHS=11
212×2+7=811
412×4+7=911
612×6+7=1011
812×8+7=1111

For x=8, LHS=RHS.

Thus, x=8 is the solution of the equation.

Hence, the solution of the equation 12x+7=11 is x=8.
