Question

Solve the equations:

(5) m − 1 = 2m − 15

Open in App
Solution

m − 1 = 2m − 15
On subtracting 2m from both the sides, we obtain:
m − 1 − 2m = 2m − 15 − 2m
or −m − 1 = − 15
On adding 1 to both sides, we obtain:
−m − 1 + 1 = − 15 + 1
or −m = − 14
On dividing both the sides by − 1, we obtain:
-m-1=-14-1
or m = 14
