6 (x – 1) = x + 11
$\Rightarrow$ 6x – 6 = x + 11
Subtracting x from both sides, we obtain:
6x – 6 – x = x + 11 – x
$\Rightarrow$ 5x – 6 = 11
Adding 6 to both sides, we obtain:
5x – 6 + 6 = 11 + 6
$\Rightarrow$ 5x = 17
Dividing both sides by 5, we obtain:
$\frac{5 x}{5} = \frac{17}{5} \Rightarrow x = \frac{17}{5}$
