Solution

Subparts : 2 Marks each

(a) The required locus will be a straight line in which every point will have its X coordinate equal to 7, irrespective of its Y coordinate value. The equation is independent of the variable y.

The required equation is x = 7

(b) Putting x = 3, y = 1 in the equation 3x + 4y = 16,

(3×3)+(4×1)=1316

The equation does not hold. Hence, the point (3, 1) does not lie on the line 3x + 4y = 16
