Given, $\frac{1}{3} (x - 3) - x - 3 = 2 (x - 1)$
$\Rightarrow \frac{x - 3}{3} - x - 3 = 2 x - 2$
$\Rightarrow \frac{x - 3 - 3 x - 9}{3} = 2 x - 2$
On cross multiplying, we get
$- 2 x - 12 = 6 x - 6$
$\Rightarrow - 8 x = 6$
$\Rightarrow x = - \frac{6}{8}$
