Solve the following equation.
$6 x + 5 = 2 x + 17$

Given, $6 x + 5 = 2 x + 17$

$\Rightarrow$ $6 x - 2 x = 17 - 5$

$\Rightarrow$ $4 x = 12$

$\Rightarrow$ $x = 3$ .

Verification:-
$6 (3) + 5 = 18 + 5 = 23 = 6 + 17 = 2 (3) + 17$ .

So $x = 3$ is the correct answer.
