Transpose $2 x$ to LHS,
$3 x - 2 x = 18$
$x = 18$

LHS $= 3 x = 3 \times 18 = 54$
RHS $= 2 x + 18 = (2 \times 18) + 18 = 36 + 18 = 54$
LHS $=$ RHS
