12=6

1 is not equal to 6 so a=1 is not correct
let us take a=2
22=6
[1 mark]
0 is not equal to 6 so a= 2 is not correct
let us take a higher value that is a=7,
72=5

so 5 is not equal to 6
so a=5 is not correct
let take a=8
82=6
Here we get the answer so a= 8 is correct value.
