Solve the following equations.

(1) $\frac{x + 5}{2} = 1 - x$

$\frac{x + 5}{2} = 1 - x$
⇒ x + 5 = 2(1 − x)
⇒ x + 5 = 2 − 2x
⇒ 3x + 5 = 2
⇒ 3x = − 3
∴ x = −1
