Solve the following equation : $3 x + 2 (x + 2) = 20 (2 x - 5)$

Solution

Given: $3 x + 2 (x + 2) = 20 (2 x - 5)$
$\Rightarrow 3 x + 2 x + 4 = 40 x - 100$
$\Rightarrow 5 x + 4 = 40 x - 100$
$\Rightarrow 4 + 100 = 40 x - 5 x$
$\Rightarrow 35 x = 104$
$\Rightarrow x = \frac{104}{35} = 2.97$
Hence, $x = 2.97$
