5m+7=17

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Solve the equation

We have, 5m+7=17

Subtracting 7 from both the sides,

5m+7=175m+7-7=17-75m=10

Dividing both the sides by 5

5m5=105m=2

Hence, m=2 is the solution of the given equation.

Step 2: Check the solution

Given equation is 5m+7=17

At, m=2

L.H.S.=5m+7=5×2+7=17

and, R.H.S.=17

Clearly, L.H.S.=R.H.S.

Hence, m=2 is the solution of the given equation.
