Solve the following pair of Equations by substitution method:
xy=1 and 2x3y=2

Open in App
Solution

Given equations are
xy=1 ....(1)
and 2x3y=2 ....(2)
Therefore, x=y+1 ....(3)
Substitute this value in equation (2), we get
2(y+1)3y=2
2y+23y=2
y=0
Put this value in equation (3),
x=y+1
x=0+1
x=1
Therefore, the solution is x=1,y=0.
