Question

Solve the following pair of equations:
x+y=3.30.63x2y=1; 3x2y0

Open in App
Solution

Given equations are
x+y=3.3
0.63x2y=1,3x2y0

Rewriting the given equations, we get
x+y=3.3
multiplying both sides by 10
10x+10y=33...................(1)
and
610(3x2y)=1
30x20y=6..................(2)
On multiplying (1) by 3 and (2) by 1, we get
30x+30y=99
30x+20y=+6––––––––––––––
50y=105
y=2.1

On putting y=2.1 in (1), we get
10x+10×2.1=33
10x+21=33
10x=3321
10x=12
x=1.2

Hence, the solution is x=1.2,y=2.1
