Question

Solve the following pairs by reducing them to a pair of linear equations:
4/a+3b=14; 4/a-4b=23

Open in App
Solution

HELLO ,
Substitute c = 1/a
So the given equations becomes 4c + 3b = 14 ----(1) and 4c - 4b = 23 ----(2)
4 x eq(1) + 3 x eq(2)
we get 16c + 12b + 12c - 12b = 56 + 69
28c = 125
c = 125/28 = 1/a
a = 28/125
b = -9/7
