$x + y = 3$
Multiplying both side by $2$
$2 x + 2 y = 6$
$3 x - 2 y = 4$
$¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯ 5 x = 10$
$\Rightarrow x = 2, y = 1$
