Open in App
Solution

Given: 4y2 + 4y +1 = 0
On splitting the middle term 4y as 2y + 2y, we get:
4y2 + 2y + 2y + 1 = 0
=> 2y(2y + 1) + 1(2y + 1) = 0
=> (2y + 1) (2y + 1) = 0
=> (2y + 1)2 = 0
=> 2y + 1 = 0 or y =-12 , -12
Therefore, the solution of the given equation is y = -12,-12.
