$x^{2} - 4 x + 7 = 0 We will apply discriminant rule, x = \frac{- b \pm \sqrt{D}}{2 a} . . . . . . . . (A) w h e r e D = b^{2} - 4 a c = (- 4)^{2} - 4.1.7 = - 12 f r o m (A) x = \frac{(- 4) \pm \sqrt{- 12}}{2} x = \frac{4 \pm \sqrt{3 i}}{2} = 2 \pm \sqrt{3 i} ∴ x = 2 + \sqrt{3 i}, 2 - \sqrt{3 i}$
