Solve the following simultaneous equations :
i 1x + 1y = 8 ; 4x - 2y = 2

1x + 1y = 8 -------1 4x - 2y = 2-------2Substituting 1x=m and 1y = n in the above equations, we get: m + n = 8 --------34m -2 n = 2--------4Multiplying equation 3 by 2, we get: 2m + 2n = 16 -------5Adding equation 4 and 5, we get: 4m -2 n = 2 2m + 2n = 16 6m =18 m = 186=3Substituting m = 3 in equation 3, we get: n = 5Resubstituting the values of m and n, we get:1x = 3 and 1y = 5 x = 13 and y = 15
