Solve the following systems of equations:

152x-378y=-74-378x+152y=-604

Open in App
Solution

Step-1 :Adding of linear equations:

152x378y=-74.(1)-378x+152y=-604.(2)
Adding equation (1) and equation (2), we obtain
152x378y378x+152y=-74604-226x226y=-678-226(x+y)=-678x+y=678226x+y=3.(3)

Step-2: Subtracting of linear equations:
Subtracting equation (2) from equation (1), we obtain
152x378y(-378x+152y)=-74(-604)152x378y+378x152y=-74+604530x530y=530530(xy)=530xy=1.(4)

Step-3 : Solve new obtained linear equations:
Now, adding equation (3) and equation (4), we obtain,
x+y+xy=3+12x=4x=2
Substituting x=2 in equation (3),
2+y=3y=1
Hence, x=2 and y=1 are the solution of given equation.
