$x - y = 2 ⟹ 3 x - 3 y = 6$

$2 x + 3 y = 5$

Adding these two equations-

$5 x = 11 ⟹ x = \frac{11}{5}$

$y = x - 2 = \frac{1}{5}$

Now, $a = x + 4 y = \frac{15}{5}$

$⟹ a = 3$
