Solve the following systems of equations.
3x+3y=4,x+y=28

Open in App
Solution

(x)1/3+(y)1/3=4,x+y=28
x1/3+y1/3=4
Cubiy both sides.
(x+y)+3.(xy)1/3(x1/3+y1/3)=6y
28+3.(xy)1/3(4)=6y
12.(xy)1/3=36
(xy)1/3=3
xy=27
Using
(xy)2=(x+y)24xy
=(28)24.(27)
=784108
(xy)2=676
xy=±26
x+y=28
__________
2x=5y or 2
x=27 or 1
When x=27,y=1
x=1,y=27
